ND2 introduces 'macro' type shortcuts that automatically replace typed text with the appropriate musical symbol.
Rich text editing
- Most of the text style controls are only enabled when you're in text edit mode, i.e. the text box has been double clicked:
- Otherwise you'll find you can e.g. only change the vertical alignment (as that's something that affects the whole text box).
Of course keyboard shortcuts are supported, CTRL+B / CMD+B for bold, etc. Just hover the mouse over any particular option to see the tooltip description which also shows what the shortcut is. Alignment options are also available via menu Format > Text.
Musical Symbol Shortcuts
We've made it easier to enter musical symbols using shortcuts so you don't have to lookup the Unicode symbol:
Document Macros
Version 2.1 also adds support for some macros that will show useful information about the document that are keeps in sync without the need to be edited:
To style these, you need to select the whole macro text - you can't apply styles to a part of a filename, for example, only the whole thing.
Here's a quick screen recording showing this. I started with an empty doc, added 2 more blank pages, created a text box with page number info as I just described then copied it to the other pages (the text updates accordingly automatically) and also then added another new page between the 2nd and 3rd pages:
If the page numbering doesn’t update, it’s likely due to copying and pasting the text 📄 Page {{page-number}} of {{total-pages}} directly. Instead, try deleting the last curly brace } in each phrase ❌ and then typing it back in ✍️—this should prompt the numbers to display correctly.
The "What's New in ND2" document that's included in the Diagram Gallery by default, shows these on page 3
